Singular Xys
Single: Xys
Group: Spectrum of Xys
Xys are crafty little creatures, if not always the brightest bulb in the box. For better or for worse they are quick thinkers, making decisions and rapid escapes from the consequences of their mischief. They are, however, easily mesmerised by sources of light, ranging from candle lights to glowing televisions screens.
About the length of a human forearm at their largest, Xys are squat creatures with lizard-like bodies. Ranging from one to two feet from the tip of their nose to the base of their tail these reptiles have rounded heads and wide eyes capable of independent movement. Their hide is soft, almost velvet-like, and comes in wide ranges of colours and patterns that loses saturation around their bellies. What separates them from most reptiles at a glance is their long leporine ears which move and swivel like rabbits and their avian-like feathered wings that grant them flight.
The more subtle thing which sets them apart is the fact that they glow. Primarily from the soft skin of their bellies comes a bioluminescence with a wide range in colour dependant upon their rank. Though they remain one colour their entire lives the brightness of it fluctuates with their mood, and can be used as a blinding defense mechanism when focused at their chests.
Though they only make chittering and clicking noises amongst themselves, Xys are capable of mindspeech, though not always with the best grammar.
Mating Info
True to their quick decision making aptitude, Xys chases rarely last particularly long. When a female decides to chase is when she glows brightest, and she will find a high point from which to perch like a beacon. The males will gather to pursue her, an acrobatic affair that takes place in the air as much as it does on the ground, and will attempt to dazzle her with their lights and physical displays. Or impress her in other ways, as love can be terribly fickle.
Bonding Info
Xys give birth to live young, and will care for their young for several months until they are capable of flight and their bellies have started to glow. Once exposed to potential bonds these quick and curious creatures can be won over by simply catching their attention, light sources and reflective baubles are a good way to go about this, and even a young Xys can make a decision quickly and stick by it.

Ranks
Bianca
Unique among Xys these rare females are identified for their ability to change the colour of their luminescence, sometimes varying day by day and sometimes constantly shifting as a never-ending gradient. They show a slight propensity towards caring and motherly personalities.
3 PSP
Verde
Ranging in all shades of green from brilliant lime to softer, earthier tones these uncommon males trend towards being the more energetic of the lot.
2 PSP
Grigia
Pale white uncommon females the Grigia tends to be a little bit larger than Biancas and are generally known for being particularly bright even at their dimmest settings. Grigia generally only go dark when they are ill.
2 PSP
Giallo
Known for being the largest of the Xys, Giallos range in colour from deep bronze and antique gold to bright and blinding yellows. Part of the reason that they are usually the largest is a propensity for being lazy, glutinous, or both.
1 PSP
Lilla
From light pinks and deep purples the Lilla are more often seen to be brighter in colour than darker, seeming to match their tendency towards lighter and bubblier personalities.
1 PSP
Torchino
There seems to be a trend in Torchinos towards being mischievous troublemakers, though this may perhaps come from being the smallest of the Xys. Glowing in all manner of blues does help to identify them, at least.
1 PSP
Ross
Of all the ranks Ross are mostly likely to be dimly lit in reds and the occasional pinks. They have a reputation for being a dependable, but this frequently comes with a helping of bullheadedness.
