Firelizards were a neat and sometimes useful species. They could do simple tasks, if they felt like it, and were pretty decent companions. They couldn’t talk, though some could sing. And would, often. All in all, Zebey truly didn’t mind the species. In fact, she had one of her own- a relatively calm and cuddly Blizzard named Mojito. The drow was rather fond of her even.
But this INVASION was shredding the last ounce of patience she had.
The villagers swear that this has never happened before. They were all even excited about it, saying Zebey was “lucky to witness this!” or something along those lines. She tried tolerating them flying around her makeshift house, stealing her food in mid bite. But the last straw was when she tried pouring herself some coffee and found one of the damned things swimming in it. Who SWIMS in coffee
… Actually, now that she thought about it, that might not be the worse idea. It does really good things for the skin and- Okay woah hold up, absolutely not. Great, this place was getting to her and now she was agreeing with this!
She needed to get out of her house. It was small, and only temporary, and she didn’t like it. But it provided a roof for now. Anyways, she was out in the wetlands, mug off coffee firmly held in her left hand, as it was about mid-morning. It was a summer day, sunny, already pretty hot- she was dressed in leather armor, worn out leather boots, and her cloak. A pretty standard outfit for Zebey on any given day. Thankfully, her cloak was enchanted to regulate her temperature, so she wasn’t overheating.
Mojito, her blizzard firelizard, was perched on her shoulder, head swiveling from side to side and taking in the sights. At her side padded her demonhound, Abbi. The Altar was also clingy and loved following her everywhere. In truth, the slayer wasn’t used to this much contact with another creature. She was starting to enjoy their company, though, so she was in a rather pleasant mood. They were out here searching for a fruit plant that Zebey could make a syrup from to enhance her mug of coffee in the mornings. She had it back in the Worldwound, and one of the locals confirmed that it grew around here as well.
She just had to find one.
Suddenly, Abbi’s ears perked up and she bounded forward. “Hey-“ the woman started, but sighed, and just started jogging after the Altar. After a moment she heard the ‘hound barking- after climbing over a fallen log and turning a corner to a rather dry area of the wetlands, she found Abbi protecting the fruit bush they had been looking for. Protecting from what, you might ask? Well that would be a group of three wild firelizards- a Blight, a Cyclone and an Inferno. They wanted the fruit as a snack, and now this dumb canine was in their way. They swooped and dove, trying to get to the plant and their meal, but Abbi was vigilant. Zebey cursed. Even now they were messing things up!
So one heck of an argument ensued. Abbi the ‘hound was barking, Zebey the drow was cursing and throwing empty threats, and Mojito the Blizzard was trying to reason with the wild three- but was being ignored. Would a truce be made? Would Zebey ever be able to make her fruit syrup for her coffee? Tune in to find out!
