Group: A festival of Lantegons
Originating from Earth, Lantegons came into being when a bunch of wild Bearded Dragons got dropped onto Planet by the PIF. After some magical interference and falling into a mystical volcano, these reptiles morphed into what are now referred to as Lantegons. They still look nearly identical to terran bearded dragons, with scaley hide, long tails, spikes (usually), and "beards" at their throats that they can expand and puff out. They average at a length of 18-25 inches, and weigh anywhere from 10-20 ounces. They eat fruit, veggies, and insects as their diet.
The major differences that Lantegons possess are their eyes and beards. A Lantegon's eyes glow softly at all times. Their terran counterparts' beards turn black when puffed out, but Lantegons light up in different colors. How brightly their beards light up is dependent upon rank. Otherwise, they can possess any color for their beards, and for the rest of their bodies- they are not restricted to natural terran colorations.
While they are capable of mindspeech, they still use head bobbing and arm waving as forms of communication with each other, and on rare occasion for Whazzitians as well. As a general rule of thumb, male Lantegons are known to be more dominant and possessive than the females. Some Lantegons have softer hide and less spikes than normal, which are referred to as leatherbacks.
Mating Info
Female Lantegons go into heat multiple times per year. Males can sense it almost immediately, and will usually begin to court the female with displays of their health, size, and most importantly, their beard. While their beard is lit and puffed out, the males will head bob vigorously at the female, whom will head bob back. Generally, the male with the brightest beard usually wins, especially if they can keep up with the number of head bobs, though the female likes to shake things up every now and then. When the female chooses her mate, she head bobs very slowly to him, and sometimes arm-waves to signal his victory.
Bonding Info
Female Lantegons clutch pretty large clutches in hot sands. The size averages from 10 eggs to 25. Most of them will usually survive unless predators or drastic weather changes occur. It takes a month for them to hatch, and while the parents will protect the eggs while they grow, they don't always stay for the full hatching. Hatching Lantegons are very small when they first hatch, usually only 5 inches in length. They enjoy being fed fruit and insects, and will bond whomever they like the most- or go wild, should they not like anyone, though that is rare since they are social creatures. They have no naming conventions.Ranks
Blackout
The rarest of Lantegons, these lizards beards glow in a negative light. A black glow emanates from them and darkens whatever room they are in considerably. If in open spaces, their beard affects a diameter of 15 feet in all directions.

Fluorescent
Fluorescents are uncommon ranks, as their beard tends to shed light even when not puffed out. When normal, their beard can illuminate 3 feet around them in any direction; when their beard is completely expanded, they illuminate 20 feet in all directions.

Beacon
We don't suggest looking at beacons directly when their beard is puffed out, for you could seriously hurt your eyesight. These guys are unique in that their beards are insanely illuminating, but rather than illuminating in all directions, they only brighten what is directly in front of them up to 25 feet away. They sometimes stand in for broken lighthouse lights when necessary.

Radiant
This common rank has an impressive range of 15 feet when their beards are puffed out. They can light entire rooms with ease, and they have the unique ability to boost other radiants' light if they're in the same vicinity as one another. If two radiants are in the same room, they'll get 30 feet of luminosity instead of a super bright 15.

Lantern
Lanterns seem to be the nice middle ground for most Lantegons. Their beard illuminates up to 7 feet around them, in any direction. They're very good for exploring caves and other small spaces with.

Glow
The easiest way to describe glows is how your phone lights up when you're scrolling through Facebook at 10pm, in the dark. Mostly coveted by those with sensitivity to brightness, glows illuminate only 3 feet in any direction.

Flicker
Lantegons whose beards flicker when puffed out instead of generating a steady glow of light are considered the lowest of the ranks. Their light flickers on and off, and when it is on, it illuminates no more than 10 feet in any direction. We've heard that flickers are good to take to dance parties and raves, so they're not completely dejected.
