Life Isn't a Game

Luna gasped. She blinked, staring at her surroundings, feeling quick rushes of warmth wrap around her as she steadied herself, keeping herself from toppling over. What had happened? Her dark eyes scanned her surroundings. There was a lake, clear as glass, black sands. All around were, mountains? Something. She’d never been to this part of the game before. Had there been some sort of glitch?
She flicked her wrist up on instinct, turning it upward so that her menu screen could appear. Nothing. That was odd. She turned her arm over and flicked up her wrist again, twice more, but still nothing happened. Definitely a glitch, though… She ventured a step forward, than another, and just...something didn’t feel right. Or maybe she should’ve said it felt too right. She spent a ton of her time in EverWorld, enough that her experiences in game and out of game were blurred so that it almost felt difficult to tell them apart at times. But with each crunch of black sand beneath, she had to say that something about this felt, well, real. Was there an update with background effects? Had they created some kind of effect that made the game feel more real?
She flicked her wrist again, as if in denial, then stared down at her arm. Someone definitely had stepped up the graphics. Stepped them up so much that she felt like she could just reach out and grab the little hairs on her arm…
“Ow.” She exhaled, and blinked, shocked. Had that just...hurt? Alright, this was just getting weird. She reached around her head, ready to pull off her virtual reality glasses, but felt nothing but her fingers digging into her hair. She reached again, thinking for a second that she was somehow doing something wrong, even though she never did this wrong. Not since she’d first gotten the set, not since she’d first played Everworld before. She looked down at her arms again, trying several things, opening the menu, her inventory. She felt The Iliad and the Odyssey tucked safely away, her backpack she was noticing now had some weight to it, and she felt the wind tickling against her abdomen, as she had bought some of the armor with the best stats that also made her look stunning. She wasn’t supposed to feel the wind.
With a shaky breath, she locked her eyes on the clear view of the lake, and tread forward slowly, carefully. She looked down into the water, watching as her black hair pooled on either side of her, fingers sliding up her cheeks as she felt her face. Her face? While the features looked more realistic, she knew for a fact that this wasn’t what she looked like, this wasn’t her face at all. This was her avatar’s face. She was in her avatar’s body in some world that definitely wasn’t a virtual reality game anymore. She felt her fingers thumb at The Iliad nervously.
Where the fuck was she?
(Just Luna's intro post. Doesn't matter if anyone responds or not, though a response would be fun! 8))
