Mixie beamed a wide grin at Leonard from inside her suit, and made sure to echo that with a cheerful wave as he settled a bowl of food beside her and the swarm of lizards. "Most of them don't seem that hungry," she pointed out. "But the grey one is making up for the rest of them." Leonard didn't seem to be sticking around, though, and that was perfectly understandable- there were plenty of shiny babies to be distracted by. Meow Mix was perfectly content to watch the Cyclone scampering off towards the table after she put him down. The pretty grey beastie was a little bully, and she certainly wasn't going to make any move to stop him. There was more than enough food over there for all these lizards and then some. He could stuff himself senseless and not steal from the other babies over there!
Satisfied that the Cyclone wasn't going to be causing more trouble for her little flock, Mixie settled down to continue lavishing attention on the better behaved lizards. The Glacier still worried her- the wobbly little beast wasn't very active, but at least, with the Cyclone out of the way, he was getting up and poking his nose into the food bowl. An appetite was always a good sign, when it came to animals. Anything that ate stood a better chance of something that didn't. Because the little beastie was so unsteady, though, she figured she'd make this process easier for him. It was the work of a brief moment to shuffle the big bowl in the sand, sifting some of the soft grit aside and settling the bowl in deeper, where the Glacier could have access to meat and juices without having to crane his little neck to get to them. He could fall in head first a little easier now, too, but hey- Mixie was pretty confident that he could eat his way out of THAT mess.
There. The Cyclone was settled, the Glacier was settled, and now Mixie could get back to the important work at hand.
Petting lizards.
Petting alllll the lizards.
The little twins really seemed to enjoy her attention, and Mixie was certainly enjoying giving it. They were very responsive little creatures, these babies, and it was a delight to watch them stretch their little necks and croon as she stroked them. They certainly seemed curious about the world around them, now that they were warming up and getting used to this not-inside-an-egg thing, and Meow Mix couldn't help but find that curiosity endearing. "It's a big world out here, isn't it?" she crooned to the pair as she continued petting. "Wanna see a little more of it?"
Reaching out BOTH hands, so that she could totally grab both of them at once, she scooped the curious hatchlings and shifted her position back upright, giving the babies a lot better view than they'd get from the ground. Hey, scooping had worked out well for her so far!
