What had started as an experiment certainly didn't end up like one. It started with sparks and symbols drawing themselves in the air before him, as expected, but then they shifted color from the bright red-orange of changeling magic to a deep green! Which was utterly wrong and not at all right! They glowed for a few seconds only do fade and die with not so much as a fizzle.
Heat and darkness filled the room he was in, and when light returned it was as if nobody had been there at all. Even furnishings were gone.
On the other side a blue troll was spit out into the night, rolled down a grassy hill and stopped by a tree. Sitting up there were glowing mushrooms around him, seemingly playing a silent tune with their pulsing light, and the troll knew for certain he definitely wasn't on earth any more. How the hell??
Between the pulsing mushrooms that swayed one in particular or maybe a few in general swung quite fast and at odds with their brethren, and before it could be really thought on another rose up in the air and vanished. Then a large black blob stood up Only to cut short at the sound of tumbling and obvious crack as something impacted wood. The thing there in the mushrooms froze listening, the fuck was that? Should they care? aw- suddenly there was a lot more light. Something creaked and rustled and up came another glowing mushroom outlining a small pale scarred hand. It waved the mushroom around looking in one direction then the other.
They never spoke up nor moved from their spot, what if the thing that made all that noise was unfriendly? what if it wasn't a person but some animal? or creature? or the planet just fucking with her?? These thoughts were what kept her silent.
There would be a growl, and a string if foreign words that could only be curses, as the troll stood. He wouldn't look too worse for wear, just a bit messy, twigs and grass sticking to clothes and hair.
"Mhac na galla!" He'd spin around, looking for any landmarks he might know, even if he knew it was hopeless. Mushrooms were kicked, going flying everywhere, completely missing the few mushrooms that didn't fit into the pattern. Coincidentally though, the blue troll set off right as the one in the field, and if they didn't move out of the way he was bound to step on them!
She couldn't see but she sure could hear and that spat of words sounded quite fierce. Mushroom still extended above her head she turned towards the sound and stared off into the dark uncertain. Maybe she should just get-
The wind was knocked from her lungs, least partially as something came stomping her way. Falling backwards she squinched her eyes shut tight mushroom tumbling from her fingers. To be frank she was sorta frightened, something in the dark just cursed and tumbled into her.
Raising both arms above her head if she could afraid that the thing would fall or hit her she tried to curl tight about her body the basket she'd been carrying tumbling down and spilling out on the ground tons of mushrooms lighting up the area and her small form.

The blue troll jumped back as soon as he heard the sound! A growl was heard, and the unmistakable sound of a blade being drawn! The mushrooms pulsed once, bright, and illuminated the figure there, for both parties.
The one on the ground would probably see it mostly in silhouette but for the brief flash of light. Glowing yellow eyes, bluefin (was that a trick of the light or his actual color?), tusks and horns!
Oh dear, not a good look, the demanding tone and snarl had the hair along her neck standing on end. Goosebumps crawling across her skin. She sat up and scooted backwards on her hands and butt. She hoped to gain just enough room to stand up, the thing lit up in the eerie glow of the mushrooms certainly didn't appear to be a monster- least not in the sense of all fours and trying to eat her. But it did have horns, and from the motion of its mouth a pair of teeth that a boar would be jealous of.
"Not a threat- unless you are"
Her tone was calm but tight hands still behind her back she looked at the ground just once, her dropped basket and strewn mushrooms, damnit what a mess. Then just like that she was trying to back up again and reaching down carefully with one empty hand picked up a glowing mushroom. If anything she could use it as a light to run- she didn't have the ability to see in the dark. Raising it up towards her face to see amber cat-slit eyes stared into the dark trying to illuminate the other better.
did you follow me? From town? why are you out here?
