Rudolph gave a yelp as he flashed through the portal, tumbling end over end till he crashed into a tree...A tree that bounced him back like rubber to land just in front of the swirling energy that was responsible for his arrival in the first place. Light grey eyes peered into the mess of energy and saw...Nothing. Or at least nothing that looked incredibly familiar to him.
Standing up shakily, his first thought was to flex his dark colored wings. They didn't seem broken or sprained. They hadn't even dislocated thanks to the bouncy tree. And what was with that. What was with this place? He knew he wasn't home. Rudolph knows that going from open skies above above a valley to an area with trees and so close to the ground in a blink of an eye was not normal.
Nor was the springy tree as he rested a hand on it and pressed inward. "What the hell is going on here?" Voice barely came out louder than whisper as he took a step back.
This wasn't what he had in mind when he wish he could have escaped the lab. Not what he had in mind at all.

Rudolph would likely hear it before he saw it. Light footsteps quickly thumped into the dirt, occasionally crunching on twigs or rustling other vegetation. A pale figure approached through the trees, heading straight at the portal that swirled mysteriously.
She wasn't very fast, but she looked to be trying quite hard to sprint the best she could. Her expression was serious, very focused on the portal. The woman just about launched herself forward, attempting to fling her body through the mass of energy that disappeared just as she was about to make contact.
She stumbled forward, reaching an arm out to catch herself. Her hand pressed into the tree in front of her. The trunk sunk in, promptly bouncing her straight backwards onto her rump. "Oof!" She exhaled as she landed, stunned for only a moment before quickly getting to her feet and brushing the dirt off of her white dress. She whipped around, long hair flowing behind her as she inspected where the portal previously was. With a furrowed brow and tense lips, she was clearly agitated.
This was the closest she had ever gotten to making it through the portal. Tracking it had proven extremely difficult due to the lack of predictability in this damned place. This at least gave her hope, although she was quite frustrated at how she had barely missed it.
She snapped her heads towards the stranger, blue-grey eyes intensely fixed on him.
"How did you manage to summon the portal?" Her tone was quite demanding.
"I didn't managed to summon anything!" Rudolph didn't like her tone of voice, but at least he kept the cursing down to a minimum right now. He didn't know where he was or even if she was someone he could trust. But she hadn't gone for him first. Rather that swirling mass of energy and that was what she was currently asking about.
Grey eyes narrowed on her. "Though if I did, I would probably tell you just so you can stop yelling at me." Even if that wasn't quite what she was doing. A hand came up to rub the back of his head, wings ruffling. "Look. Do you know where I landed? Cause I can tell you, this is nowhere near where I originally was."

One of her brows twitched at a drastic angle, as if a nerve just beneath had been directly stimulated. Her eyes narrowed back at him. What a sassy child she had the unfortunate luck of stumbling upon. It had been a very large adjustment for Haelys to come to terms with the fact that she could not sentence someone to punishment (such as removing the tongue) for disrespecting her. This interaction was a harsh reminder of her new reality.
Her lips managed to curl on one side into a smirk, as if she almost felt guilty about reprimanding a child (which, for the record, no reprimand had occurred—only a simple question).
"I assure you that you have not heard me raise my voice." This time, her tone was almost too calm, masking a guttural rage at the way commoners thought they could treat her. "Though perhaps your parents should have raised their voices to instill some manners in you." Okay, maybe a hint of rage had peeked its head during that follow-up sentence. She was still slightly smiling in an angry kind of way.
He roughly reminded her of that other bird-man she had seen around, especially in size, although this one was more human-looking. As the stranger changed the subject, Haelys did seem to loosen up a little bit.
"Mm, I see." She commented knowingly. After all, the portal had also spit her out in this place not all that long ago, although the weeks had been slipping by her.
"I have heard most people refer to this place as 'Planet'. There is also a town not too far from here that some call the 'weyr'." She still had no clue what either of those words meant, but she had heard them used enough to understand what they were referring to.
Instead of offering what additional information she had, she pushed the topic back again.
"Who summoned the portal for you then? Likely someone who would want you dead or at least very far away."
Rudolph would have been ecstatic to know that he got to keep his tongue. And upset that she thought he was a child. He hadn't been a child for quite awhile. In just about every sense of the word. Of course, his face didn't give that away. Lucky him.
"It was actually the yelling at me that makes me act out so much. So sorry for not treating you with any sort of respect. I'll be sure to never work on it in the future." It was on the tip of his tongue to call her some kind of elder. Though she honestly didn't look that old and he didn't like people calling him a child so he wasn't about to do the reverse.
Planet...He was on a planet called Planet. How...Unimaginative. Did he trip into a child's imagination? No. Surely even a child could be more unique with names. Bringing a hand up, he rubbed his temples. He had no idea what a weyr was other than the name of a town. It sounded like 'where' and talk about an even odder name for a town.
Where are you from?
Where are you from?
That sounded like an awful conversation joke. Moving, he started stretching. Making sure nothing was broken from the landing. "No clue about that either. I don't know of anyone who wants me either dead or far away. Though I was also kept on a short leash most of the time so, there are probably people out there who are glad I'm...Here."

Although there were many, mostly aggressive emotions churning inside Haelys at the moment, her face was rather deadpan. The main thought echoing through her mind?
There is no way that nobody wants him dead.
Just based on their interaction so far, there had to be plenty of people that wanted him dead or far away. Haelys indeed wished the portal would open back up so she could either escape this land or at the very least push this person back through it.
Eh, maybe he was just delusional—whether this was a constant state of being or because he bashed his head into a rubbery tree. But then, the mention of a leash...
"I have never seen a slave or servant behave so audaciously." She was half talking to him and half acknowledging this strange circumstance to herself.
"If you're going to look for a new master here, you really ought to reevaluate your behavior." Leave it to her to already be thinking about how this individual was going to make a living here.
As much as Haelys was in the market for servants, there was no way she would spend money on such a problem child.
Excuse you? Rudolph raised his eyebrows at her. Just what the hell was this lady on and how did he avoid it? "Uh...Maybe cause I am ****ing neither? Unless lab experiment falls somewhere under that. And then by all means, please educated me on it. Cause it is news to me." Hands came up to run through his hair. Just what the hell was her issue?
Or was everyone like this on Planet?
Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew he wasn't being the nicest. But **** that said the rest of his brain. He was on a new world. With no allies and who knows how many things here would want to kill him. Or cut him up. Or...Enslave him apparently.
"Considering I don't have the desire to be someone's *****, I think I'll keep my behavior unchanged." And then a hand waved off the advice in a dismissive manner. "Not like I need to be nice to survive."
