Singular: Boggun
Plural: Bogguns
Group: Pod of Bogguns
Bogguns are very cute marsupials who traverse over both land and water. They heavily resemble otters, with their sleek fur, round faces, and little paws. There are a couple of very acute differences however. Most notably, around their necks grows water fauna like lilypads, seaweed, and many different types of fern (mosquito fern, feather fern, etc). The plant varies per pup and doesn't seem dependent on genetics; it helps them blend in with the environment to avoid predators. Their fur comes in muted shades of any color, with varying patterns. Gray, dusty forest green, faded pink, and even dark yellow are all colors you could see. They also sport very long, strong tails, much like a kangaroo. This helps them hunt in more dense above land areas, and also doubles as a rudder while swimming. While bogguns' bodies range from 2.5 to 3 ft in length, their tails are easily 3-4 ft long by themselves. Lastly, female bogguns are born with pouches on their bellies, as this is what they carry around their young with.
Bogguns are playful, usually cheerful creatures. They are curious and love new things, and also have a habit of hoarding things. Herbs, jars, rocks, flowers, you name it, a Boggun has hoarded it. . They are very social creatures though, and happily chatter (and won't stop) with most humans and other species. Able to mindspeak with a fair grasp of grammar, and some able to learn other languages (though this requires a lot of practice and dedicated), they won't have any problem talking anyone to death.
These aquatic creatures share close bonds with each other and mate for life. In fact, their ranks are dependant upon an aspect of their mating ritual. Each boggun is offered items that their parents have gathered when they are too big for the pouch, and whatever item they pick they guard with their life. When the time comes for them to chose a mate, they swap items, and keep their mate's item for the rest of their life. This item determines what rank they are, and how strong their bond with their mate will be. The Bogguns refer to this item as their "heart", which is adorable, admit it.
Mating Info
Females start chases by slapping their tail against the ground, rapidly, which can be heard for miles around. When there are enough suitors to her liking, she initiates a game. This could be tag, hide and seek, or hot potato. At the end of the game, she decides her mate by offering him her "heart".
Bonding info
When a female's litter of pups are too big to fit in the pouch, they are ready to bond. Boggun bondings are very simple, where the mother will gather people to interact with her pups so they can choose homes (always after choosing their "heart"). Food is always welcomed, as are games to play. They're not very picky.

Fossil
The rarest of the species, bogguns who choose fossils as their heart are usually very introspective and calculating. They put a lot of time and thought into their decisions, and their judgements. They tend to take longer making decisions, and can be known to be stubborn. They will follow you to the ends of the earth, though. The fossils can be in amber or mud, just small enough to carry.
