General Info
Singular: Psyder
Plural: Psyders
Group: A Creep of Psyders
So far divulged from the tiny arthopods with whom they share a name as to be almost unrecognizable, Psyders are basically as un-spider-like as a spider can be (while still being a spider). They're startlingly large for arachnids, with leg-spans ranging from three to ten feet in length- so, from about the size of a sofa cushion to a bit bigger than a Smart Car. The females are easily twice the size of the males of their same rank, and even the largest ranks of males are smaller (on average) than the smallest ranks of females.
While they have hard exoskeletons, a Psyder's shell is covered from head to toe (to toe to toe to toe again) in thick, soft, fluffy fur. Their colors range from blacks to silvers to browns to golds, often in multi-hued patches or brindled stripes, strongly resembling the fuzzy coats of dogs. Each of their eight fairly stubby, silky-haired legs ends in a clever pair of nimble toes which, while not exactly dexterous, can be used to hold things. Anywhere from two to four pairs of jewel-toned, bright eyes sparkle on their faces, and can be as large as tennis balls on the larger ranks.
While, like any spider, Psyders are predatory, they don't just spin webs and wait for prey to stumble in. Rather, all Psyders are born with a natural psychic ability that they use to ensnare their prey. The silk they spin is mostly used for building nests and giving them easy paths to travel through trees. This doesn't stop Psyders from getting creative with it, though- many Psyders excel in textile art forms, weaving, knitting, embroidering, and otherwise generally creating works of art with their naturally spun silk.
While they do not possess the ability to mindspeak (with the exception of the telepathic Kubwa), Psyders are able to speak vocally. Their voices tend to be far softer and higher pitched than one expects from creatures of their size, and might be occasionally muffled by clicking mandibles, but are generally understandable.
Mating Info:
Why are you asking me about how giant spiders get it on? Why do you want to know that? Why would anyone ever want to know that?

Since you seem to insist, though...
When a female Psyder is ready to mate, she becomes absolutely ravenous. The males that are courting her favor bring her prey to devour, competing among one another to show off their skills in hunting (and their psychic prowess along with it) by trying to bring the juiciest, most interesting prey. The female will accept food from any male, but only the one that impresses her as the most capable will be allowed to approach. The males should take heed, though- if the female's appetite is not fully satisfied when he approaches, she is not always completely adverse to taking a Psyder as a snack, especially if he's one of the comparatively bite-sized smaller ranks.
Bonding Info:
Female Psyders lay their grapefruit-sized eggs in clusters that are carefully wrapped in a sack of fine silk and carried with the mother until they're ready to hatch. Upon hatching, the Psyderlings' first instinct is to scatter and explore their immediate area... which, when you're talking about a bunch of plate-sized-spiders with psychic powers, usually results in a great deal of chaos and minor spidery destruction. The mother is generally very protective of her brood, and is rarely far behind them. Psyderlings don't look for any particular characteristics in their bondeds, and gifts might be completely ignored- but they might also catch the eye of a young Psyder, so who knows?
The Psyderlings are always around the same size- about a foot in leg-span- making it very difficult to tell whether they're male or female, or what rank they'll grow into. Close observation of them and their abilities can provide a pretty good hint, though.
Ranks:
Kubwa
Kubwa are by far the largest Psyder rank, with the females reaching up to ten feet in leg-span, and the males usually topping out at around five feet. Their fur is always marked with some nature of stripes, whether it's all over, in patches, or even just on the legs. Kubwa, alone of all the ranks, hunt primarily using their physical strength and size, for their psychic ability is telepathy- useful for communicating among one another and coordinating a group, but not so much for trapping crunchy tasty things.

Female Kubwa lay broods of a dozen or so eggs at a time.

Akili
Akili females can reach up to eight feet in leg-span, with the males being around four feet. While their colors and patterns vary as widely as any other psyders, they always end up with white toes, no matter the color of the rest of them. They come across as particularly quick on those little white toes, too, as an Akili's psychic ability is teleportation. Any Akili can instantaneously transport itself and a passenger to anywhere in it's line of sight, but only the most skilled can transport themselves somewhere they can't physically see- even if it's only on the other side of a door.

Hoja
Hoja females are usually between seven and eight feet in leg-span, and the males four feet. Regardless of their colors and patterns, they always have some form of facial mask marking. Hoja Psyders have the ability of telekinesis, making them the only Psyders that can fly, as they are able to levitate themselves as well as they can levitate any objects around them. Prey has a hard time running away if it's feet can't reach the ground, making Hoja among the most proficient hunters.

Wakati
Wakati are one of the four smaller ranks, comparatively speaking. Females can reach up to six feet in leg-span, and the males up to three feet. Whatever their colors or patterns, Wakati will always have solid-colored legs. Their ability is chronokinesis, or the manipulation of time. It's very rare for a Wakati to be able to pause time for longer than a heartbeat or two, however, but that's more than enough to catch most prey off guard.

Choma
Choma are also on the smaller side, as far as Psyders go. Females can reach up to six feet in leg-span, and the males up to three feet. No matter the color or patterns of their fur, Choma always end up having white bellies. Their psychic ability is pyrokinesis. They can generate and manipulate fire, but this is usually used for flushing out prey rather than cooking it. This is far less dangerous than it sounds, for any Choma can put out even a large fire far more easily than they can generate one.
Choma females lay three or fewer eggs to a brood.

Kuishi
Kuishi are the smallest and most delicate of the Psyder ranks. The females rarely even reach a full five feet in leg-span, and the males are just over two feet. Whatever colors or patterns their fur holds, one leg is always a different color from the other. Kuishi Psyders have the power of vitagenesis, which allows them to control plants. While none of them can go so far as to make trees walk, most Kuishi can get vines to tangle prey or grasses to twist underfoot.

Barafu
Barafu are around the same size as the other commons, with females reaching up to six feet in leg-span, and the males topping out at around three. Like all other Psyders, they come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, but the only distinctive marking this rank bears are their mismatched eyes. The eyes on their left and right sides are never the same color, and sometimes each individual eye is unique. Barafu have the power of cryokinesis, and can control ice, freeze water, or just make your feet very cold.
