GUYS ZEE HAS A FLIGHT BUDDY??? WHO'S ALMOST AN OWL? I CAN'T??? Lan is a perfect snowy boi and I love him
Storm of the Millennium Mistral
This tiercel is huge. Broad of body and wing, stout of leg, he almost -- almost! -- resembles an owl more than an eagle. His face even rounds a bit, but that beak is all eagle, sharp and black, the only spot of dark shading on his entire body. Shrouded in mist almost always, cold sublimating off of hid body into the air around him, this hulking bird nearly reaches the size of the lords of his species, in height and wingspan, too. Those wings are immense, broad flight feathers fully as long as the average human and strong enough to support his bulk in the air. When light shines through the trailing edges of these longest of feathers, a delicate spiderweb of silver is obvious; like frost on a windowpane, changing hour-to-hour. As pale as a winter sky, this eagle is just as cold to the touch, feathers soft but limned with frost around their edges. He's all-over near white, faint traces of blue and platinum around the edges of most feathers in a pretty pattern. Sharply golden, his eyes are striking in all the eerie pale, huge and round and adding a bit to that owl-vibe he's got going on. Not helping the look is his feet; they're feathered clear down to those wickedly sharp talons, fluffy white down protecting him from his own chill. Little flakes of snow seem to constantly shake loose of his always-tidy plumes, giving them the effect of snow covered boughs just barely holding back their deluge of cold.
If this eagle looks cold, he can act twice that, given half a chance. He's stiff and cool in equal measures, polite to a fault for the most part, but not exactly friendly to most. It'll take time to earn the trust of this tiercel -- he's got a wildness to him, a skittish edge that he doesn't like to show, but which manifests pretty dramatically. Yeah. The snowstorms. I mean the snowstorms that whip around him if he's experiencing any sort of inner turmoil. Those are definitely the most obvious sign that your mistral is Feeling things he's not sure about, winds whipping around him, stinging ice flying like little knives. He doesn't mean to sting or hurt, of course, merely to have space to think, process...and he does a lot of thinking. If you need a companion for a long night of study, he's your man, excelling in quiet companionship where warmth can gather naturally. And he is warm, in his own way, once he thaws to you. No, he'll never be one for exuberant affection, but dry compliments and steadfast support in your endeavors are the same thing, riiight? Sure they are. Even if they're not, they're what he's got, and the alternative is blasting snowstorms. So. You know.
