Checklist

Hey all!
As we're transitioning to proboards I figured we should make a new hub of all of the things we need to talk about. Just wanted to make a checklist of things I think (and feel free to add more/argue with me of course) should be ironed out before we launch? Start bonding things? Whatever we want to call it.
Staff
Poll
We currently have a group of polls where you can vote for admin! Cast your vote if you have not already. I believe we want that poll to close either 9/29 or 9/30, or until someone hits 10 votes? A few people are close to that. And it'll be +1 for a yes and -1 for a no, since there are two options. I think it's been generally agreed upon to have a "core" admin team of 3 people, and maybe 2-3 mods who assist, numbers that we can adjust if/when the site grows. I'm assuming we'll just take the top three votes and then the next two or three from the polls? I also believe that we mostly agree that most of this stuff is going to be a group effort anyway, the staff will just be moderating, making sure decisions are come to and act as a sounding board in a sense for the rest of the community.
Roles
I do think we should dive the roles, unless people disagree with me. Thinking back to old!Whazzit, I believe some of the duties included: giving out bonding stats, managing the masterlist, archiving bondings/chases, dealing with PSP/BPSP, dealing with BPSP purchases (including mutations), making news posts, and dealing with member drama, as well as all of the technical aspects of keeping the site running. Maybe we can add being in charge of advertising to that? What do you guys think is the most appropriate way to divide the tasks (and did I forget any?) I'll edit the post as we figure it out.

Shinies
Choosing our starting ten
We are opening the site with the big 3 (Dragons, Unicorns, Gryphons), the two Pern canon shinies (Firelizards & Whers), and the top five poll winners (Arathlial & Ikal'daka are currently guaranteed in). There is currently a poll for picking three of the five of the following: Beorfin, Fisi, Flamma, Powlets, and Requiae. I believe most people have voted for now, but if anyone wants to cast a last minute vote check it out. I have numbers tallied up and it's VERY close. Sunday will be a week of this particular poll being open, not sure when if we want to keep the full week or we'd rather close it earlier.
We have our starting ten! Dragons, Unicorn, Gryphons, Firelizards, Watch-Whers, Arathlial, Beorfin, Flamma, Ikal'daka, and Requiae. :)
Editing
We also currently have a discussion about dragons right on proboards! Go fill in your two cents! I believe we want to keep most of the mechanics the same, but we're tinkering with the ranks. :) Do we want to start discussing some of the other 6 shinies that are guaranteed in? I'm glad to start threads/anyone can unless we want to focus with one at a time, though I personally would like to speed things up (because I'm impatient >_>).
Just as a reminder, the shinies we are voting in are getting minimal edits, which to my understanding means ranks can be reworked but the shiny description will be mostly unchanged. I think if we want to tweak minor mechanics/how chases work or something it'll be fine, but it seems that what people want most is to deviate from the really strict rank guidelines. I think discussion on how much we deviate will be different for each respective species so I think we can just talk about it right on their individual threads.
PSP
Other things that we've discussed under shinies would be PSP values. The consensus I've seen has been to do away with having four different values, and going with a 1/2/3 system, or for the case of the big 3, 2/4/6 (I...cannot for the life of me find where we talked about this I'm sorry). We're also doing away with Common/Lord/Queen and going with Common/Uncommon/Rare because why do the rarest have to be female?
Do we want to keep the PSP total ranks?
Bondings
I also seem to think that most people think we should stray away from having twelve bondings at once and try to have Whazzit be about more than just bonding shinies. I've seen the number of us starting a new bonding every two weeks. Bondings normally are allowed to run for up to ten, correct? How do we feel about those numbers? Do we want slightly more bondings at once? I also believe that people want to do away with the big three only happening once a year, moving it to either twice a year or just shoving them into the regular rotation with the others. I also believe we want to have bondings with less shinies. A little competition is okay, and people walking away without a shiny is also okay. Having less shinies with less bondings will make things more manageable.
Do we want speedbondings still? I don't think they'd be necessary at first, but I was also never a huge fan of them anyway. Thoughts?
Do we also have thoughts on the bonding application process?
Adding Shinies
I've seen the number of two a year and we can adjust as necessary? Thoughts? Agree/disagree? When do we want to start adding shinies once we launch?
Event Shinies
As these deviate from the norm, do we still want event shinies? How do we want to handle adding them, when should their bondings be? Do we want to stick with holidays or should we go something else (my first thought was seasons, and then I remembered some of y'all only experience the seasons of hot and less-hot)? Do we bring back the old guys (Shamries, Cracklings, Kanbi, and Prezzies)? Do we not even bother and just have mutated/specialized shinies for events?
Extinct Shinies
Do we want this to be a thing still? If so, how?
Starter Shiny
As suggested by Melu here. Do people like the idea of anyone starting with a 1PSP shiny? Why or why not?
BPSP
How to earn
I think we had 5 for holding bondings, 3 for holding chases/winning? -Looks it up- Ah four for holding/winning chases and two for losing. I also know CZ mentioned that a long time ago there were jobs, and if once a week someone mentioned their character's job in any post they get 5BPSP or something. We also had BPSP earning from advertising way back when, we can bring back similar things. Word prompts/other writing challenges could be fun again too. Any thoughts?
How to spend
Buying shinies of course! I can't find half of these conversations that I remember happening what the heck, but I think we were going with 5 BPSP for 1 PSP shinies, 10 for 2PSP, and 30 for 3PSP? And if people want to open up to buying the big three, it'll be 15/30/90? How does that sound? Do we want rares to always be purchase-able? How about the big three?
Kat tossed around the idea of having some purchase-able items. I'm not sure how to make it work, but I think this would be fun if we can think of more ways to spend BPSP.
I also recall someone mentioning we can do half price day twice a year which I think would be fun! I also can't remember what the policy is about buying other people shinies outside of half price day, do we have an opinion on that?
Mutations
Lish started a nice discussion about it, go discuss!
Rules
General
Here is old!Whazzit's rules.
Here is Raerae's fabu thread of discussing the rules.
Going to discuss a few individual ones? That are bigger?
Characters
We don't want to keep track of face claims (though you are more than welcome to use an IRL person to represent the appearance of your character). We agreed on having multiple characters. Do we want that from the get go? Do we want you to earn them? How many characters?
Postscripts (aka Post Templates)
Seems to be a consensus of no on these lol.
Activity
I feel like this one is kind of bigger so I wanted to point it out. How do we want to handle this? Once every six months seems fair to me.
I mean yeah, I think it's best if we all talk about any/all of these things on Raerae's thread. :)
Whazzit
Setting
Are we going with the jungle again? How about a desert? Mountains? A tundra? Maybe a set of caves? What do we want and how do we want it. Anyone wanna draw a map (if we even want one)? How do we approach they Weyrd, what's it like and where is it? Thoughts?
Boards
To my understanding, people don't want separate bonding, chase, and neither of those things boards. I personally love the idea of starting with maybe only a few boards and building up as we discover them. Thoughts on the boards themselves?
Discovery
As mentioned above, what are people's thoughts on having an exploration factor to the site? How do we want it to be run (random event, voting, non-random event)? Do you not want any of this?
Advertising
Moar friends!
We have a thread for this, I don't think I need to say much more.
Contact
How should we contact you?
So, we all know that we are all busy with our own lives doing various things and not everyone can be on our lovely but chaotic discord channel all the time (I hope that link still works). Do you want me or anyone else on the site to contact you for big decisions/voting? How would you like to be contacted? Email, text, facebook, I am happy to reach out to anyone that wants to be a part of the rebuilding but have a hard time checking on things. Hell if it helps to just have a weekly update thread or something that would be fine too. Let us know!
Other
Did I miss anything?
I think general things we can discuss here, but maybe for things that merit longer conversations (like mutations and rules), it might serve us better to just make an entirely new thread. Hit me up if I forgot anything or I wrote something dumb! :)
